Back at it

After the Perth International Regatta I took a week off to see some sites and explore Perth with my girlfriend, Elyse.  The week off was a nice break, and we were able to do a lot of things in the area.  We went to what can only be described as an Australia Petting Zoo where we saw Koalas, Kangaroos, Emus, Ostriches, Alpacas, and a whole lot of other animals.  Another day we checked out Penguin Island, and a third day we went to Rottnest Island.  Here's a picture of Elyse holding a koala:

The highlight of the week was a Thanksgiving dinner with some other American sailors and some training partners.  We all contributed a home-made dish to get our Turkey fix so far away from home.

But after the week off, it's time to get back to work.  I'll be here for the next 10 days sailing and going to the gym.  A lot of top international guys stayed in Perth after the event, so the training will be very productive.  On December 8th I'm flying to Melbourne for the Sail Melbourne regatta, so it's training hard until then.

Check back for more updates.
